How to Start a Blog

If you are already maintaining a web site, having a blog can add to, or enrich, your existing web presence. You can set up a blog even if it's just a hobby. If you have a business, you need a blog. For a meager monthly hosting fee, you can use your blog to establish a professional, attractive, web presence. Blogging is affordable for anyone. Many designers charge much less for a blog design and installation than they would charge for complete, traditional, html or flash site design. It's probably because even a layperson can build a blog.

When blogging became extremely fashionable in the internet marketing scene, marketers were giving up their traditional internet websites and changing them with well designed websites. There were still traditional sites around, but almost all of these sites had a blog attached to them

If you feel like starting a blog but you only want a blog as a supplement to your site, here are some tips

1. Select from Different Blogging Platforms

Play around with several different blogging platforms to choose the best one for your needs. Do this for research before you commit your budget to hosting and a domain name. You can begin by setting up several small websites on Blogger and on Typepad. Then, you can go for wordpress.org and wordpress.com. After trying out all of the major blogging platforms, ask yourself if blogging is for you.

2. Webhosting and Domain Names

If you find out that you enjoy blogging, it's time for an upgrade. Some people realize that a blog is better rather than the current html design of a traditional website. A hosting service will let you do some things that you won't be able to do on a free blog platform. Some free blog platforms do not allow advertisements.

With a hosting plan, you have more space for your blog. All internet marketers could do with more website space and bandwidth. Space is a necessity if you post videos rather than text. You can also be more creative if you own your website. Your new blog could also use a unique domain name to identify it from all the other websites on the web.

3. Blog and Socializing Online

Many marketers understand the concept of socializing online when their blogs start receiving comments. Commenting gives you the chance to communicate with your website visitors. By making it possible for customers to post remarks publicly, and answering comments publicly, you can encourage people to interact with you more. Answering these comments and communicating with the commenters or just saying thank you shows you care for the readers
